The recent NYCC fundraiser received a very positive review in The New York Stringer. To sum it all up: “As James Byars, oboist for the New York City Ballet Orchestra, remarked after the concert, “That was the best modern music concert I have ever been to.”
Congrats to all! You can read the full review here:
Speaking of reviews, JOSEPH PEHRSON sent this link to a review of the recent American Modern Ensemble concert that featured one of his pieces as well as a piece by PAUL MORAVEC.
Golden Fleece Ltd., The Composers Chamber Theatre, will premiere a cabaret number from TAMARA CASHOUR’s song cycle EMILY UNLEASHED. The song, written in a comic, cabaret-jazz vein, is titled “I’m Nobody–Who Are You?”, and is scored for Legit-Belt Soprano, YAMAHA ES8 Motif Synthesizer, cellphone and slide whistle. The lyrics are from Ms. Dickinson’s poem, with additional monologue material by Ms. Cashour.
The song premieres on Sunday Night November 19th at 8:00 p.m. as part of Golden Fleece’s Square One Series, ongoing on 3 Sunday nights: November 5, 12 and 19th. Performance Venue is: 48th Street Studios, 353 West 48th Street, 2nd Floor. Tickets are $10. Miss Cashour will sing the song and her synth player is Ms. Kathryn “Kat” Sherrell.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in NYCC-land!
