Violist Jill Jaffe performs with the Orchestra of St. Lukes, the New York City Ballet, the American Composers Orchestra and many other NYC based groups. She is a member of the Crescent String Quartet and the Saratoga Quartet. Jill has played on the soundtracks of over fifty movies and recorded with many artists, favorites include Aretha Franklin, Evan Lurie, Marc Ribot and Tony Bennett. Jill has concertized in Europe, Mexico and Japan. Playing violin with with a tango quintet, she is featured on Roberto Begnini’s 1st film “Picolo Diablo”, recorded in Rome, Italy. As composer, she has written for theatre and film. For director Michael Greif, Jill composed music for productions at the Public Theatre, the New York Shakespeare Festival, La Jolla Playhouse, the Mark Taper Forum and the Berkshire Theatre Festival. For director Michael Mayer at the Atlantic Theatre and the Classic Stage Company. Jill has been the music director, arranger and orchestrator for director Martha Clarke for many years, most recently for “Belle Epoch” at Lincoln Center, “Kaos” at New York Theatre Workshop and all incarnations of “Vienna:Lusthaus”. She compsed two ballets for Interfaith productions performed extensively in NYC following the tragedy of 9/11. She is the recipient of numerous ASCAP awards.
